DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

The North Face DryVent

The North Face DryVent
Dryvent™ fabrics are engineered to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The outer face of the textile is treated with a durable water repellant finish that helps form droplets and repel water from the surface. Each multi layered textile is engineered to allow water vapor to pass through from the inside to the outside.

The North Face WindWall

The North Face WindWall
WindWall is a fleece fabric that retains the comfort, flexibility and breathability of traditional fleece while eliminating wind chill, which enhances warmth. The unique bonding process cuts 80 - 95% of wind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from solid jacket I needed a waterproof winter coat and decided to try this jacket out. Overall, it was a good purchase. It's definitely waterproof (water beads up on the fabric) and that was the main thing I needed. It runs small! I noticed this from other reviewers and knew I needed to be warm, so I ordered an XL (I'm usually a M-L) and I'm glad I did. I'm 5'7, 150 and the XL gives me room to add a hoodie. This coat isn't very warm on it's own, so that will help. The pockets are really roomy which is great and the liner has pockets, too! It's really windy right now and I'll definitely need another layer if I want to be warm. Quality is great and I'm hoping this coat lasts for years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from love the color, does the job too I like the outside layer and really like the color. The inside layer looks nice the way it is structured and fitted... it is very flattering to wear on its own. The outer layer though, is not as slim as it looks in the picture... it bulges out more than I had expected/hoped, so it's less flattering than I had hoped. (In the picture it looks like it's got a fitted shape similar to the underneath layer.) It does the job though. This inner layer is not as warm as the inner on my previous one, so I actually swapped them out, and wear this new one underneath, so I am wearing all three layers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I bought this jacket because it has been getting into the mid 30's here in San Diego. I have coats but I like sweaters and jackets because they are more comfortable. I've never bought a TNF jacket before mainly because I didn't think we didn't need them here, but I am glad I did and will buy more in the future. The Jacket is sport comfy and warm. When it came in I tried it on immediately to see hours it fit. It fit perfect. Which I was a little skeptical from some of the reviews. Jacket is so warm, comfortable, I can easily move around in it. In the mornings when it's cold and I have the full jacket on I do not feel any coldness or wind come through. And that's what I was aiming for and I succeeded. Thank you TNF for making this jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good unless you want to move your shoulders I was super excited about this jacket. It fits well until I went to raise my arms up or hug myself (typical way to test it a jacket fit). It felt like there wasn't enough material in the shoulders or something, because it was really restrictive. I got the large and I'm 5'6 and 170, so it fit perfectly except it's uncomfortable to move in the shoulders. I wish these fit like the old 3-in-1's. Sad that I have to return it because it was stylish and comfortable otherwise. So if you have slightly broad shoulders, this might not be for you :/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I genuinely love this product and would buy it again! This product is greatly versatile and is perfect for so many different occasions. It truly is "Triclimate" because the outer shell and inner jacket can be used independently of each other, allowing you to customize your fit based on what your activities are and what the weather is like. I have actually purchased 2 other North Face Triclimate jackets and they are super durable- the first one I bought in 2014 is still in perfect shape despite how much I've used it. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Going to the beach in winter feels warm and cozy. I like the three climate styles because it is easier to layer when the layers are made to go together. I mainly use my jacket to go to the beach in cooler weather, for warmth and especially for wind resistance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from skinny arms The sleeves were really tight, but the body was too loose. I'm returning because it just doesn't work for me, I don't have large arms, but the sleeves were just too tight to wear anything but a short sleeve under. The body of the jacket was so loose it just didn't feel comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would recommend this jacket. A little tight around my arms so I wouldn't wear it running but good for hiking and watching my kids soccer games in the rain.

I'm normally a women's size 12 or Large. Should I go up to a size XL when ordering this jacket? And do the pockets zip up on both the inner and the outer jacket?

Asked by: AnnaW
Hello and thank you for your question! This jacket tends to run a little on the smaller side, especially because the inner jacket is slim fit. If you are looking for a more loose fit or think you will be layering you might want to go up a size. Both the outer shell and inner liner have zip pockets. Hope that helps!
