The North Face FUTURELIGHT technology

The North Face FUTURELIGHT
The North Face FUTURELIGHT fabric technology features an ultra-thin nanomembrane for outerwear made with 90% recycled materials. The breathable-waterproof technology keeps you comfortable by allowing your body to breathe, prevents water and snow from soaking in and remains light, soft and durable. Ready to go on the trail, rock and crag for weather protection on your desired adventure.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Kept me very dry [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wore this in the pouring Oregon rain for an 8 mile hike. I was very dry. They were comfortable to wear. Also wore these for hiking in the snow. Only down side is I wish it fully unzipped to get hiking shoes thru the pant waist without risking getting mud on the waistband. But, I would still buy these again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripped in several places on the first wear [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so disappointed with this. I have bibs from the north face that I love but I don't know who these are made for - maybe someone walking around the city? They ripped in several places along my boots after one hour of light backcountry touring. The fit is nice and they are pretty waterproof, but they snag and rip too easily for this to be anything even close to something I recommend for people looking to hike, bike, backcountry ski, cross country ski, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why no plus sizes? I tried these on today in Cl and while i could zip them up they wouldn't have been practical as rain pants because they were too tight. I really don't understand why clothing labels don't make plus sizes. Is it that you think people over size 16 don't hike? Ski? Bike? We do. And you're missing out on a lot of business by not offering a wider range of sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Waterproof! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use these pants mainly for walking and hiking and they are fully waterproof. They have been surviving the rainy Oregon winter well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing totally off [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the predecessor to these made with Goretex. I am only 5'3 so wanted to get a pair with a shirt inseam so decided to try these. I ordered both XS and S short. The XS was too small to fit another layer comfortably underneath, and the S was so much bigger than the XS! Fit more like a medium. The sizing is so off I am actually questioning if it's a sewing error (it's probably not). The waist is way to big in both pairs (and no belt loops to help). There is literally 8 inches of extra space in the waist of the S! By the way, the length was perfect. I usually am right in the middle of a XS and S in TNF clothes. I weigh 110 pounds. Typically I go with the S because I'd rather have some breathing room, but this is just ridiculous! Too bad, the material seems nice and I really wanted to test out the Futurelight technology while doing some long alpine hikes this winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First rain pants! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've avoided buying rain pants for years, thinking they would be cumbersome and more weight than I needed. However with cold winter hikes in the rain and snow, they worked great! I didn't want to waste money on a cheap pair just to replace them later and it was worth it. Just hope they last.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weird design. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t aware of this design but apparently the whole entire side of the pants can be unzipped on both sides. I’m not sure what this design was intended for but it makes the pants feel awkward to wear because zipper lines don’t bend as easily as fabric. I’m 5’0” 100lbs and the pants were way too long so I had to return the pants and I lost money shipping it back. The pants barely fit my waist and it was a little small. I got size small.l

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Year Round Purpose [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can use them camping, a shell for down hill skiing on warmer days, hiking, fishing, canoeing, and any activity where staying dry is a goal.

HOW to MEASURE
WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.

JEANS WAIST: Measure your circumference at a point about 2 inches below the belly button.

HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.

INSEAM: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure from the top of the leg/crotch to below the ankle. Or take a pair of pants that fit well and take the same measurement.

FIT TYPES
SLIM FIT: Slim in the seat and close-to-body throughout. A straight side seam runs through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg, with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

STANDARD FIT: Trim, but not tight, in the seat with an ease through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

RELAXED FIT: Has a generous fit in the seat and is roomy through the hip and thigh. Ease through leg with a slight taper from mid-thigh down.
