The North Face Women's Freedom Insulated Pant is a weatherproof pant for winter weather protection while skiing or snowboarding. These pants feature a DryVent 2L shell to keep your lower half dry while ripping through the freshly fallen snow this season. A 60g layer of Heatseeker Eco insulation is placed within, adding just enough heat for the colder days and time on the lift. When your body heat rises, the inner thigh vents can be opened up to release that excess heat without exposing main areas to the elements. Reinforced at the lower leg, kickpatches prevent the sharp edges of your equipment from tearing them up and StretchVent gaiters inside prevent deep powder from sneaking up your pant leg.

The North Face DryVent

The North Face DryVent
Dryvent™ fabrics are engineered to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The outer face of the textile is treated with a durable water repellant finish that helps form droplets and repel water from the surface. Each multi layered textile is engineered to allow water vapor to pass through from the inside to the outside.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seams don't hold up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I bought these I absolutely loved them. They fit perfectly, even a little too big. However the inside seams in the crotch and butt totally ripped apart during powder skiing. I don't think these were made to do anything but easy groomers. They don't allow for deep squats or motion. I have worn them less than 10 times. It is really upsetting because the outer material and fit are amazing. I don't know why they went so cheap with the lining stitching. I wonder if mine was a fluke? For reference I am 5'5, 140 pounds. I wear a size medium and they fit perfect. Maybe size up so you have more movement room?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these! Make more colors so I can buy more. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE this color! It is a beautiful berry color. It looks great with other jewel tone jackets and sweaters I have. So happy to see a gorgeous color like this. In terms of fit, it is a great length over boots, and they actually flatter your figure. No big bulky look at all. The vents on the inner thighs are great too. It lets you cool off when you need it after a strenuous stretch. I hated my previous pants. They were good in the cold morning, then got too hot mid day, and then we're good in the late afternoon/evening again. The vents make these all day comfortable. Great addition! Would highly recommend these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fit PERFECT! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was a little worried when I saw several reviews that they were sized a bit small. I just received mine and tried them on right away. Medium/Short fits perfect. I am usually a size 8-10 in jeans, thick thighs (can't wear many modern cut jeans), and short legs (28in inseam). 159lbs/5'2" Hope this sizing review helps others, as that I know it's a pain to order online. ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Will Ski Better in NF Freedom Pant [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are the best ski pants! I purchased an XL regular and they fit perfectly w just the right amount of Velcro. North Face thought of everything including articulated knees, thigh zippers to let out heat and the cuffs fit over the boots w walk featured bindings. This is important! I had to have my last pair of ski pants altered to fit over my new boots and bindings so be aware. My husband has had his North Face pants for at least 8 years and I have been jealous over fit, quality and how they have washed and held up. You won't be disappointed with the Freedom Ski Pant!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tight in waist and bum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I almost didn't order these because I think the fit looks so awkward on the model (pinched waist, bunched crotch, baggy knees). Decide to give them a try and they were a little better in person, but still not right for my body. I am slender with a 27.5" waist, usually a size 6 (sometimes 4). The small was 1/2" too small in the waist with no room to adjust bigger. Can't imagine who would need to make these 4" tighter in waist...Barbie?? They didn't look bad, but with long underwear it was uncomfortable. Bum was also very tight (looked good TBH, but I like to actually ski, not just look good). I think if I were to size up the hips would be poofy and legs too baggy. That said, if you are in fact Barbie, you may like these. Quality and features seem good for price point. Side rant: why do all women's ski pants seem to be made for women with tiny waists, huge hips (but slim butts), and no thighs? Does no one actually ski?? Where is the room for our rippin' quads, glutes and obliques???

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wanted to love... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to love these so bad. The colors are amazing, and the amount of pockets is great for skiing and winter hiking. However, there is something weird with the zipper and the area between the legs. I am a little curvy, and found the waist to be too big but the middle area WAY too tight (size L). I went and traded in for the same pant in a men's version (size L) and there was much more breathability and flexibility. Sorry TNF, but the woman's fit isn't the one for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rise too low and not made for any curves. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Size MEDIUM. I don't understand why TNF is suddenly making these and the Aboutaday pants as basically "Low rise" short zippers and they hang low so stuff doesn't stay tucked in who wants air on their waist on the mountains. Makes no sense. If you pull them up they are tight in the crotch. I LOVED my old pants that I had to send back because they ripped in the wash. They also seem to be made for someone with a straight up and down body no curves. They are big on the bottom calf area though too big. Not cute. I returned them so not sure if they are warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these pants [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several different brands of ski pants but these are hands down my favorite. I almost didn't buy them after reading reviews about the sizing. I am 5'1 1/2 105 lbs - I run , hike , bike, swim and participate in pretty much any outside sport. I'm not hugely muscular but I am pretty solid. I bought black size XS and they fit perfectly. My two best friends are about the same size as me and after "borrowing" mine they both went out and bought themselves a pair.

HOW to MEASURE
WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.

JEANS WAIST: Measure your circumference at a point about 2 inches below the belly button.

HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.

INSEAM: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure from the top of the leg/crotch to below the ankle. Or take a pair of pants that fit well and take the same measurement.

FIT TYPES
SLIM FIT: Slim in the seat and close-to-body throughout. A straight side seam runs through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg, with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

STANDARD FIT: Trim, but not tight, in the seat with an ease through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

RELAXED FIT: Has a generous fit in the seat and is roomy through the hip and thigh. Ease through leg with a slight taper from mid-thigh down.
