Rated 5 out of 5 by from would recommend so when i read other reviews most people were complaining about the size and not having very many pockets, there's a reason there are other backpacks. this bag has two pockets one small in the front and one large with a laptop sleeve. i think that it would be a good backpack for light travel, i use it for school and to pack around my medical supplies as a nursing student in hawaii and i would recommend to my friends. it's a cute small but large backpack that definitely holds what you need and i don't have any complaints. if wanting something with more pockets or more space, read the product description before making a choice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Accessories organizer sewn in the wrong way Overall a fabulous quality backpack, but with the new re-design, I think there was a quality control flaw during production. The accessories organizer in the secondary compartment is sewn in so that it faces the interior of the main compartment, not the secondary compartment, like it is shown in the photo. I thought my backpack was a mistake, so I took it into the North Face store to exchange. To my surprise, every women's Jester we went through had the organizer sewn in facing the wrong direction. Salesperson thought it was supposed to be this way until I showed him the stock photo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good choice I use this backpack for traveling, work, and school. It works great! You can tell that its great quality and worth the money! I've used it for a week now. I do wish it had a small pocket at the front. Its easy to pack; I have been able to fit my laptop, 2 makeup bags, chargers, wallet, hairbrush, 1 outfit, planner, food, lotion, water bottles, and a few other items. Its doesn't feel like I'm carrying all of that though. Unlike other backpacks I feel like this backpack doesn't hurt my back or shoulders. I got the blue one and I love the color, but I'll probably purchase the backpack again in black to have it in a neutral color that goes with everything!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Downgrade from the old Jester for sure. I got this backpack for Christmas a year ago and have been super disappointed in it. I immediately realized how much smaller it was than my previous Jester backpack. Then as I've used it more and been commuting via bike and walking, I've realized it's hardly water resistant at all. All of my stuff gets soaked whenever it rains. Water just sits in the flaps up front and absorbs into the bottom of my bag, thus my books, papers, and computer get ruined. Really displeased with this bag and it's honestly an embarrassment from Northface. Definitely makes me wonder what your quality standards have become. Absolutely would not recommend this bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's alright I received this backpack for Christmas my freshman year of high school. It lasted throughout the end of my freshman year and well into my sophomore. However, midway through my sophomore year the zipper at the top of the bag became unstitched and loose from its connecting fabric, making the bag unable to fully zip. This is extremely frustrating as I was only able to use the backpack for roughly a year and a half. Despite this, I will be purchasing another Jester backpack heading into my junior year, due to the comfort and versatility of this bag. Hopefully this time the zipper won't break before I graduate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Organizer pockets are NOT AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE!!! I loved the look and style of these backpacks. However, when mine came in the mail, the organizer panel was in the main compartment facing the laptop sleeve. So if you are to unzip that part all the way, everything will fall out of the slots. And it is completely backwards from the pictures shown on this website. I called NF and they sent me a new one. The new one was the same way. After doing further internet research, it seems like that is how the Jester is made now. I don't know if it's intentional or a mistake, but either way, it's WRONG! The organizer panel should not be in the main compartment! Suppose you have a bulky jacket or sweatshirt in the main compartment. You yank it out and along comes your pens, flashlight and phone that are stashed in those upright slots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Everything You Need I bought this backpack as I started college and so far it has everything to meet my needs. The large pocket fits multiple textbooks, the small pockets for supplies and organization are super helpful, and there's even a laptop pocket and perfectly sized side pockets for water bottles, etc. My only criticisms would be that I would prefer a little more padding on the laptop pocket, and I would have liked the school supplies pockets to be in the front section instead of the back (but that's just my personal preference). Overall this backpack is more spacious than it looks and comfortable on my shoulders and not really lacking in anything.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very small, Awkward to get into I actually ended up returning this bookbag. I bought it for college classes because I loved the look of it and it had the side pockets for a water bottle. I also liked having another pocket on the front of the bag. However, the bag is actually VERY small. It was able to fit my laptop, but not much else. It's very hard to get books in and out of the bag. The way the front pocket is situated, if it is full, it creates an awkward bulge at the top, which inhibits getting into the bottom of the bag from the main pocket and makes it top heavy. If you are using this for something like hiking or traveling, I would recommend.

Is this backpack waterproof or water resistant. Thanks

Asked by: 3kidsrnumber1
Hey there 3kidsrnumber1, thanks for the question! Unfortunately, since the zippers on this backpack are not waterproof, this backpack is not waterproof. That being said, they outer shell of this pack will naturally be somewhat water resistant. I hope this helps!

I need a backpack to where I can fit 2 3in binders and a couple notebooks and it will fit comfortable do you recommend this one if not what other ones

Asked by: Jj1216
Thanks for the question! The Women's Jester is The North Face's best-selling Backpack for students. It has one main compartment with a laptop sleeve in the rear. It will definitely hold 2-3 standard size binders and a couple notebooks. The front compartment will keep you organized and includes a padded tablet sleeve, pen holder and zip pockets. A similar option is the Women's Classic Borealis Backpack. It has a two-compartment system that will hold books, binders, etc in the main portion. There is a laptop sleeve is in the rear of the main compartment and the front compartment will keep your small electronics organized. A third Pack to consider is the Women's Recon. It is the largest - at 30 liters and was designed as a daypack or school commuting bag. The large main compartment will hold several books & binders. Long story short, the Jester is a classic and should hold everything you described. If you purchase and it doesn't work out, just let us know so that we may facilitate a return. I hope this info helps a little!

Size Guide

The North Face Women's Packs

SIZE One Size X-Small / Small Medium / Large
Torso Size (Adjustable) N/A" 13 - 18" 15 - 20"
Torso Size (Fixed) 15 - 18" 14 - 17" 16 - 19"
Hipbelt Size 24 - 35" 24 - 30" 30 - 36"

HOW to MEASURE TORSO SIZE
1. Put your chin to your chest and feel for the big bone protruding on your neck at the top of your spine. That's the C7 vertebra.

2. Feel your hip bone, the top part of this is your iliac crest. Find the spot on your back that is level with the top of this crest.

3. Have someone measure the distance between these two points, following the contours of your spine.

HOW to MEASURE HIPBELT SIZE
1. Measure around your body where the hipbelt will rest while you hike. This should be just above your iliac crest.

NOTES
The size info above is for The North Face technical and backpacking packs. Day packs and work / school packs are offered in One Size, and feature adjustable straps to fit an array of sizes.

Women's packs feature a women's-specific design for a better fit and more comfortable carry on smaller female torsos.
