Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I would not buy I liked this coat a lot, unfortunately I felt the the back was too long, it went all the way to my knees and getting in the car and out I felt the coat was twisting a lot. I inadvertently bought this coat vs another coat I was looking at at North Face. I had a very hard time trying to figure out if the coat was too big or not. I was also not really digging the shapelessness of the coat, for a casual everyday winter coat I feel like it needed a belt of some sort. Ultimately I decided to go to the store to see about sizing and length and ended up returning this coat and bought the W Gotham PKA II instead as that held more wind proof and was shorter in the legs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good coat with some minor issue [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been owning 4 northface coat...always a northface fan...i like this metropolis due to the fact, it's soft and only 790g, like put a blanket on to me...i can get L size on me, other brands, i needs to get XL...that's one big factor i decided to keep this one...i go tried out in braintree northface store ....one minor minus, the hood...when i wear crossbody bag and tries to take off me, the hood snap buttons will go off...so i opened up my sewing kit...sewed on one metal snap button and 10 stitches...so hood stays in place...ever since this sewing, i did not have any problem with this nice coat...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can't wait for winter! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just received this jacket (gray color) in large size. I'm in between a medium and large (inverted pyramid body shape) size right now (6 months postpartum). There is room for layering and it fits perfectly in the bust area, however there is quite some room in the stomach and hip area. Again, I'd rather go up in size versus down and then it's too snug and I can't layer for this upcoming winter. Even with my 5'5 frame, this jacket isn't too long and I love that it covers my hips. It's also very fluffy, but not huge 90's puffy jacket if that makes sense.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would not order a down jacket from North Face again This jacket is warm and was the style I was looking for but unfortunately the feathers have been coming out since the moment I got it. Less than 2 months in and everyday I find feathers falling out or on my clothes. I am fully aware that it is a down jacket and there may be some feathers that fall out, but in this case there are simply too many large feathers falling out. I went into the store and asked to return the jacket at the Edina Galleria and the lady helping me was very rude and told me I had to massage the feathers in.. she then tried to do as said and ended up pulling more out.. not happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chic & Functional Puff! I'm an avid traveller whose really stubborn about not packing anything too bulky. In the past when going to international locations in winter, I'd just do lots of layers. Finally hit my peak and decided to invest in something that would allow me to stay out longer and not lose my core warmth. I decided on this coat for a few reasons: 1) covers my thighs and butt (I'm 5'8") 2) pockets are lined so my hands (and phone!) can warm up when it gets really cold out 3) the interior zipper pocket is perfect for my essential cash and cards 4) it's not as bulky looking as other parkas and allows me to still layer, but to keep my hourglass silhouette for my outdoor pics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this coat I cant believe all the bad reviews! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coat is exactly what I needed! I got the highly rated Marmot last year and replaced it with this NF and am so much happier. It is super light but without sacrificing warmth. It has a sturdy zipper unlike the Marmot. I have the dark green and the color is so pretty. There are no feathers coming out, the finish of the material is great, the cut is flattering - looks better than in the photos even. I cant figure out where all the hate is coming from?! I highly recommend it! (I am 5'9" and 138lbs and the M fits great.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hood snaps are TERRIBLE [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVED this jacket when I tried it on and was very excited to have finally purchased a good North Face winter coat. However, before I could even take the tags off I noticed the hood kept falling off. Can't hold the jacket by the hood, can't hang it by the hood, I cant even reach back to put the hood on when wearing it without the hood coming unsnapped. This is so disappointing as a decent hood is needed in the Maine winters. I even asked the salesmen why the hood was off each time I tried this coat on and he just said he had it aside. I wanted To love this coat but the hood snaps are just crafted terribly. I'll be driving 1hr to return this.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Go with a different coat.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really wanted to love this coat. I had a previous down/puffer jacket about this length from North Face for almost 10 years. Other reviews are accurate about the little white feathers poking out a lot. Additionally the snaps on the hood are super cheap and pop off SO easily. It's a miracle I haven't lost the hood. Sometimes it's hanging on by two snaps. I plan on sewing it on permanently. I found the medium to be a bit too big, but a small would be too restrictive (I have another similar NF in S currently). Compared to my previous coat which was similar in style, this is a cheaply made product and I would not recommend it.
