The North Face Women's Metropolis Parka is a long winter coat that's super warm without weighing you down. Speaking of down, all those puffy baffles are filled with lightweight goose down to keep you nice and toasty throughout the cold months. The hood snaps right off when you don't need it, and the drop-tail silhouette layers nicely over any outfit while bringing warmth to hips, thighs, and buns.

Hood snaps have major issues.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the coat. I would give it ten stars for warmth and style. It's just a great looking coat. I bought the large. I am 5'8" and weigh 165 pounds. Still plenty of room for a winter sweater underneath. I do have one gripe, and it irritates me daily- the snaps on the hood are RIDICULOUS. I never hang by the hood (it's actually impossible). The hood snaps to the coat by way of these tiny, very weak snaps. They come unsnapped constantly. I'm finding myself being very cautious with the hood, and I feel that's absurd with the cost of the coat. It should just function properly. Other than that, the coat is beautiful.

Great coat[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is about as flattering as a parka can get thanks to the shaping at the waist. It's nice and warm and the length is great for keeping the tops of your legs warm. The only downside is the neck, as someone who is only 5' tall the neck goes up so high when it's fully zipped that it basically goes up to my mouth. The hood is also kind of ridiculously big. All the other propositions are good though so it's a little strange. (I bought the XS.) My last coat was an earlier version of the Metropolis and the neck and hood fit were much better, I'm disappointed about the change.

Newer Metropolis styles of lower quakity[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 2009 Metropolis parka that has held up remarkably well but now showing it's age was thinking about replacing it the last few years & retiring mine for dog walks. I have tried on the newest iterations & have come away without purchasing & very disappointed. Everything about the parka feels & looks like a much cheaper version of what I still own. Sadly, this parka will never measure up what I expect for the money & I will move on to another brand with higher quality parkas even if it costs more to last longer.

Everythng was 10/10 until it became 9/10 from
Everything fine but the hood..It is a beautiful coat, beautiful colors and good fabric, Everything is nice and great until you put the hood on your head. When my coat arrived at home, I tried it to look at myself in the mirror and I was enjoying it but when I put the hood over my head, it already came off and I was starting to regret my purchase because, as a Canadian from Quebec with cold and wind in winter, I realized that I might be condemned to wear a scarf to make sure it stay in place and that my neck/face stay warm. If it was a zipper instead of buttons to connect the hood with the coat, it would had been wonderful.

Love this coat but...[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coat is impressive. I am very picky with coats and I have zero regret purchasing. I am 5'8" and 145lbs. The medium is perfect. It keeps me warm in upstate NY winter. And it's not too bulky at all. The bottom of the zipper comes up and down easily to sit while driving comfortable. My only complaint, and wish so badly this didn't happen but the hood is constantly coming unsnapped. I'm scared it's going to fall off and I'll lose it eventually. Such a shame for this almost perfect coat.

Flattering design...w/ unignorable (avoidable!) flaws![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE how flattering this coat is, especially if you have curves. Hood is spacious which works well for my big head (hate hoods that are too small). Design of the body of the coat is extremely flattering on waist and butt. BUT. There are TWO FLAWS that led me to sadly, reluctantly have to return it. The first problem is that the outer fabric seems too thin, and almost immediately feathers start popping out everywhere. Not a good look. The second problem is that, as many other reviewers have mentioned, the snaps that attach the hood are very flimsy, so the hood breaks off at the slightest touch or tug. North Face, PLEASE re-do this gorgeous coat by making it have a down-spillage-resistant outer fabric and better quality snaps to firmly attach the hood! Just please, please, PLEASE don't change the gorgeous pattern of the coat. I'd buy several colors with those improvements.

WISH I CAN RETURN IT[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So this is my very first TNF jacket in my life, I was so excited to give this a try, the price is no joke so the quality needs to be really good and not cheaply made! I love the way how it looks, very simple and elegant at the same time! But after wearing it a few times, the feathers are coming off all over the jacket! Comparing to my older jackets that has no brands, they don't shed at all. I really wish I can return this even I worn it already. Very disappointed.

Love this parka!I wear this coat everyday from November to March, even for walking the dog. I absolutely love it. It's very warm and flattering. Roomy enough to add layers when it's -40c. The only thing I absolutely can't stand is how easily the hood comes off. It would be the perfect coat if the hood was attached. That's the only reason why I give it 4 stars. I'm 5'5 and bought a medium. I'm top and bottom heavy. Good for 150-190lbs.

SLEEVE LENGTH: With your elbow slightly bent, starting at your middle neck bone, measure to the point of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone. Or take a shirt that fits well and take the same measurement.
FIT TYPES SLIM FIT: Has a close-to-body fit with fair range-of-motion. Jackets are shaped at the waist with moderate body contouring. Can be worn over base layers or light mid-layers.
STANDARD FIT: Fits true-to-size for easy, comfortable movement. Can either have slight body shaping or a straight fit without the shaping. Can be worn over mid-layers.
RELAXED FIT: Has a loose-to-oversize fit, with no shaping, and hangs away from the body. The shoulder may drop below the natural shoulder. Can be worn over heavy mid-layers.
