Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made me sweat in Chicago! Walking around downtown Chicago in 30F weather, the zipper finally gave out on my 15 yr old puffy down coat. So I made my way to the NF store and bit the bullet to drop this kind of cash on a coat. I couldn't be happier! With a howling wind, the hood and fur lining blocked it ALL. I was amazed. It got so warm walking around outside that I ended up unzipping the coat to stay cool! This coat is going to be awesome for cold Chicago winters. Well worth the money. I love the deep hood and extra sleeve mitten details. So clever! I'm 5'11", size 10/12 and I bought an XL. The large fit ok, but it would have been tight with a bulky sweater on underneath, so I opted for a little extra room.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from so hoped it would be perfect - love the look of it I was so looking forward to receiving the jacket. I love the way it looks, very stylish for a super warm parka. Love the style, the feminine hourglass shape with belt. Unfortunately, the shoulder and arm sections are weirdly tailored. I am petite and proportionate (this means that I have normal sized arms and shoulders :) ) but this parka just doesn't fit right in the shoulders and upper arms. Normally, I am size S so I tried M but that didn't help either. If they could design it with a little more room in arms in shoulders it would be perfect. For a coat of this price I expect more comfort. So sad to have to return this coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect gift! I bought the jacket for my wife as a Christmas present. We moved from southern California to the Pacific Northwest and she needed a warm, stylish, dry jacket. She already had a North Face down bomber style jacket that worked great but didn't have the styling that I knew she was looking for. This jacket fit the bill perfectly! It fits her perfectly! She is 5'9 and always has problems with sleeves, the large fits her like it was custom tailored just for her. I would recommend this jacket to any woman looking for a great looking jacket that will keep you warm and dry on those cold and wet Pacific Northwest winter days and nights.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed won't be able to keep I wish I could make this coat work for me because I truly love the style and it's very warm, but the fit is not for an adult woman with hips. I wear a large in all the coats and jackets I own, and this coat is too tight around certain areas, especially hips. I went ahead and purchased the x-large but after bringing it home realized it looks enormous on me, and just does not fit nicely. It's like I'm in between size large and x-large which does not exist. This is a women's coat but not made for a woman...so very disappointed since I wanted this coat so badly! I've noticed this with many of NF clothing, just not made with women bodies in mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Deep Winter This jacket fits perfectly, is stylish, but also very functional. I wanted a jacket that would protect me from the wind and give me the option for fur around the hood which will keep me extra warm in the winter and this jacket is it! The sleeves are also the perfect length (not too long like most other jackets), it has warm and soft lining in the sleeves for your hands, plenty of pockets, and a warm and soft closure that comes high above the neck in case you need to really protect from some harsh wind and temperatures. This was really built to keep you warm and the green color is very flattering.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small in the chest and arms I bought this jacket in a size small, which is my true size in just about everything I wear. This jacket was way too tight through the chest, armpits, and arms. I could hardly move my arms up and down, and I knew that issue would only be worse if I was layering underneath. The jacket fit well everywhere else. When I went to return this in store, I tried on the medium for comparison. As I expected, it fit in the arms but swallowed me everywhere else. The proportions of this parka are definitely confusing and didn't work for me at all. I ended up getting the Defdown park and the fit is way better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would not buy this product I have had this parka for a year and I can confidently say that I am very disappointed in this purchase. I wear dark colors all year long and it was so disheartening and frustrating having to constantly remove the tiny feathers coming out of the cheap lining. It came to the point that I had to carry lint remover sheets in my purse and office desk and spend 15 minutes or more removing EVERY SINGLE ONE (please see image of my wool base layer after spending a cold, NZ winter day in this parka). It's embarrassing to do so, and even more so when taking off said parka and people noticing said feathers flying around. A clothing item this expensive should not be such a hassle to deal with. I'm going to give this away and get my outerwear from another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect Minnesota parka! I tried on both this And the Def Down. I am 5'6 125. In Def Down I fit a size small with plenty of room, but in the Outer Burroughs I needed to go up a size to a Medium due to the shoulders being so tight. I like the fabric of the Outer Burroughs, it has a smooth texture. The Def Down felt like corduroy and I could feel the fabric snag on my rough hands. I wore the Outer Burroughs at an outdoor event in the 20s and didn't feel cold at all for over two hours. I can't wait to test it on our Sub zero MN days. It also has a very flattering cut.

HOW to MEASURE
CHEST / BUST: Measure the total circumference of your chest at its fullest point. Ensure that the tape is horizontal when measuring.

WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.

HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.

SLEEVE LENGTH: With your elbow slightly bent, starting at your middle neck bone, measure to the point of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone. Or take a shirt that fits well and take the same measurement.

FIT TYPES
SLIM FIT: Has a close-to-body fit with fair range-of-motion. Jackets are shaped at the waist with moderate body contouring. Can be worn over base layers or light mid-layers.

STANDARD FIT: Fits true-to-size for easy, comfortable movement. Can either have slight body shaping or a straight fit without the shaping. Can be worn over mid-layers.

RELAXED FIT: Has a loose-to-oversize fit, with no shaping, and hangs away from the body. The shoulder may drop below the natural shoulder. Can be worn over heavy mid-layers.
