Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The front pockets are the worst- so shallow everything falls out. The men's pockets are made much better- why can't the women's be the same? I had my phone fall out on the trail and had to backtrack. I've also had cool rocks, lighter, and other camp supplies fall out. The front pockets have to be rendered useless otherwise you will loose stuff. I have cursed these pockets on the trail. These pants also stretch out a lot, I'd say 2 sizes while out hiking. Luckily they have a nice synch belt.... But that also broke for me around my 4 time wearing. In theory these pants look fantastic, but it's like TNF had no women actually go out and test them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Less pockets than before - would NOT buy again! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been hiking in Paramount pants for 13 years now, and this latest zip off version is very disappointing. The women's model no longer has the cargo pockets that I find ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to carry items on a hike. It only has shallow hand pockets on the side and one zipper pocket in the rear. I cannot hold anything I need in these pants. The non zip offs have great pockets, but I will never buy this particular model again, given the change. WOMEN NEED POCKETS!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from stretch out and shallow pockets [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Husband and I bought our north face pants on the same day from our local hiking store. His are great with lots of pockets and elastic adjustable waist. Mine my hands don't even fit in the front pockets leaving only one pocket for storage. Don't want to hike the Appalachian trail in these need storage. And after wearing once to fish in they were falling off my butt and the adjustable waist only tightens on one quarter-back was still loose and the front lopsided. These look nice but didn't function for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable hiking pants - CHECK THE FIT Okay. So I used their "find your size" option which recommended me as 4 short. I like my clothes form fitting so opted for a 2. When it arrived it was WAAY too big. The waist was very loose and would still be loose with the belt tightened all the way. I returned them and bought a 0 short. When my item arrived I found out I incorrectly received a 00 short. I tried them on anyway and found out they fit fine. Ummm... I am 5'4, 120 pounds. It's not like I'm crazy small. What is up with these sizes? I still had room along the back part of the pant! They feel comfortable except a little annoying along the zippered part. I have full range of movement in them. I'm thinking short might be a bit too short for us 5'4 people, but I'm not returning again. Weird sizing on these pants. If you're a small woman I don't think you'll fit these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Missing Features I have an older pair of the Paramount Convertible pants, and they have been around the world on hiking adventures with me. I was looking to get a second set. This updated version is really underwhelming. It looks cute, but is lacking the features of the previous designs. Firstly, the pocket design is extremely poor. The cargo pockets are gone, which I previoisly used to store my phone, maps etc. These pants do have some shallow side pockets, but as there are no zippers I would never trust leaving things in them. The zipper pocket on the backside is impractical for most things. Secondly, the drawstring for the waist is gone. The hip belt that replaced it simply doesn't work as well. Bottom line - these pants look great, but I would never take them on a real backcountry hiking adventure. Avoid if you are looking for functional hiking pants.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have fluffy thighs ;) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband has these in Men's and loves them, so I was super excited when he ordered me some for Christmas. I'm 5'10", 180 lbs, and often have a difficult time finding shorts where the hem line around my thigh fits. My Paramount Convertible (14L) fit everywhere except for the zipper that converts them to shorts - too tight around my lower thigh. I may try to find a men's pair to fit. Super bummed; they were comfortable and flattering otherwise. They would be perfect for canoeing/portaging as they are water repellant. I would recommend them to anyone less fluffy. ;)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hate the new fit and style Wish you would bring back paramount convertible 2 pants prior to making them super stretchy and tight like leggings. These are flimsy and thin and too tight. Maybe offer a style of each type? I also like pants just wide enough around the ankle they cover the top of my shoes and keep debris out. Please consider this!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Zipper Bothered Me [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked these pants and was looking for a pair of hiking pants just like them, but the zipper was too uncomfortable for me to keep them. I was always aware of it when wearing them, both as pants and as shorts. I returned them. I did like the length and fit of the shorts; not too short and not too long. I do not recommend for folks with medium - large thigh circumference.

HOW to MEASURE
WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.

JEANS WAIST: Measure your circumference at a point about 2 inches below the belly button.

HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.

INSEAM: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure from the top of the leg/crotch to below the ankle. Or take a pair of pants that fit well and take the same measurement.

FIT TYPES
SLIM FIT: Slim in the seat and close-to-body throughout. A straight side seam runs through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg, with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

STANDARD FIT: Trim, but not tight, in the seat with an ease through the hip and thigh. Pants will be narrow through the leg with a moderate taper from mid-thigh down.

RELAXED FIT: Has a generous fit in the seat and is roomy through the hip and thigh. Ease through leg with a slight taper from mid-thigh down.
