The North Face DryVent

The North Face DryVent
Dryvent™ fabrics are engineered to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The outer face of the textile is treated with a durable water repellant finish that helps form droplets and repel water from the surface. Each multi layered textile is engineered to allow water vapor to pass through from the inside to the outside.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs slightly big This parka runs slightly big, that must be due to the standard or relaxed fit. I purchased this and the outer boroughs parka both in a size Small. I'm 5'3 116 lbs., 34A. The outer boroughs has a slim, tapered, more feminine fit. This parka has more of a straighter fit, especially in the waist, even when cinched. I'm not a fan of the cinching toggles after seeing and using the button/snap cinch on the outer boroughs. Both have the same 550 down fill but this parka feels much lighter in weight, even though there is only a little over a pound difference. This one is also about 3 to 4 inches shorter in the front and comes below my bum in the back. I'm unsure how much of a size difference there would be to size down to an XS. My guess would be that it may be too tight for med to heavier weight layers. I like a little room to move. My favorite of the two is the outer boroughs, it definitely has much better features and is a true heavy weight warm parka. This one is nice option for a lightweight, travel friendly parka.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this jacket again Amazing jacket, fits well over a sweatshirt or a T. Warm without being bulky. Easy arm movement without binding thur the shoulders or chest. Very waterproof. Will use it for skiing this winter. Everything about this jacket is spot on

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I was hoping for... I really like the coat except that I purchased it to fill in a gap in my winter wear and it's not what I expected. I needed a coat I could wear from single digits to about 30 degrees as I walk every day and live where the temps range from -30 to 30 in the winter. I've got the bitter cold covered and since this states "warmest" as far as these coats go I figured it would work for the rest. I wore it for the first time yesterday when the temp was 24 degrees and was cold. My back felt like there was no insulation on that part of the coat along with the sleeves and I was wearing a turtleneck and flannel shirt. Just never once felt warm on my walk. Had to put on another layer in order to wear it again outside and that is not what I wanted to have to do. My old LL Bean coat that I was replacing was warmer. Very disappointed as I respect North Face clothing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket for a good price I bought this jacket mostly for wearing while out at the dog park. I needed something warm, dry and to be able to add layers. The coat runs a little big which is okay for my purposes. I like the snap closure patch pockets to keep my keys and phone in and not have to worry about them falling out. Wish the pockets were warmer. The zipper us a but finicky, but maybe will smooth out with use.

HOW to MEASURE
CHEST / BUST: Measure the total circumference of your chest at its fullest point. Ensure that the tape is horizontal when measuring.

WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.

HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.

SLEEVE LENGTH: With your elbow slightly bent, starting at your middle neck bone, measure to the point of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone. Or take a shirt that fits well and take the same measurement.

FIT TYPES
SLIM FIT: Has a close-to-body fit with fair range-of-motion. Jackets are shaped at the waist with moderate body contouring. Can be worn over base layers or light mid-layers.

STANDARD FIT: Fits true-to-size for easy, comfortable movement. Can either have slight body shaping or a straight fit without the shaping. Can be worn over mid-layers.

RELAXED FIT: Has a loose-to-oversize fit, with no shaping, and hangs away from the body. The shoulder may drop below the natural shoulder. Can be worn over heavy mid-layers.
