Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket for my East Coast Adventures [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love my jacket, I went to the NY, RI, and MASS. and was war the whole time. I walked everywhere with my two little kids and it did not feel bulky. Highly recommended, just wish it came in more colors! The small pockets high on the chest are very secure as well. I would keep my hotel keys and metro card in there. I also kept my IPhone max12 in my pockets with my wallet and it was secure. I appreciate that so I didn't have to carry a backpack or purse. I am 5'8 and 120lbs and a small was perfect for me and for layering. I had three layers and probably could layer more if I wanted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very warm! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered this coat in large for a November college football game, when I received it, it seemed a little large, so I went to the North Face store to try on the coat in medium, but the didn't have this style coat. I tried on another parka with a velcro closure instead of the snaps this one has, the medium fit perfectly so, I bought it. After I had it a few days I decided I did not want velcro snagging my sweaters so I returned it and ordered this parka in medium. The medium came but it was tight in the shoulders so, back it went. Yesterday I went to the game in my large parka with the inside elastic cinched, it kept me warm and dry all 7 hours! So happy I bought this coat!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I would not buy this again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned many North Face jackets in the past and I personally feel like the quality of the jackets have declined, I'm not sure if this is a norm for down jackets, but for this particular one after only a half a day of wearing... the feathers on the inside were coming out and flying all over the place, in the past I would have the issue about a lengthy time of everyday wear or after bringing it to the cleaners, never the 1st day of wearing it, I'm very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE, LOVE, LOVE [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this for myself and it is SO worth it! I got it a few weeks ago and two of my friends are already planning on buying the same coat. I keep getting compliments on it. It is so warm and the pockets are large enough to carry my phone, wallet, keys, hat, and gloves. The perfect length and texture. I don't even need to layer in this jacket. I could be wearing just a t-shirt and I am warm during my walks to class, even in the Michigan cold. This jacket surpassed my expectations and I know it's going to last me many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop looking and buy! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So much better than I'd imagined! It's lightweight, the color is beautiful, it's sooo warm! I got this just in time for a snow storm, and I'm speechless. It truly is waterproof. I spent an hour shoveling, came inside and it looked like I haven't even been outside. The water just glides off. It kept me insanely warm. The only part of me that was cold were the parts of my legs that weren't covered by the jacket. It's flattering to wear if you pull the insides. I just love it! If you're looking for a warm and super cute jacket, look no more!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly comfortable and stylish jacket [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket will be great for Fall, Winter and early Spring in Maine. But after just a few days, I can see I'll have to leave the zipper closed and step into the jacket each time I wear it, which is sometimes inconvenient. The metal parts don't want to align and it's a weaker design compared to the zipper in the McMurdo jacket I also purchased for my husband. Disappointing since everything else about this coat is excellent.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So comfy but weird/missing features [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I saw this online and went to purchase it at my local north face store, but they didn't even know it existed yet, so they special ordered it just for me. When I took it out of the box, I was so excited. They weight is AMAZING! It's soooo warm without being ultra heavy or bulky. the aesthetic qualities of the jacket are also on point. It looks stylish but casual, with attention to detail like the little leather notches at the hood. However, a few practical features fell short for me. The absence of welt pockets at the hips is a big miss. Sure, there are flap pockets in front, but on a cold winter's walk, it would be very awkward to hold one's hands in front of them like that. Instead, the welt pockets are at the breast, which IMO is awkward. What does a person with breasts stash in those pockets without looking misshapen? Is there actually room for items once it's filled out by the breasts themselves?? Seems like it wasn't really thought through very well. I also wish there were some sort of internal stash pocket for items that need safekeeping. Last but not least, I'm petite at 5'4 and 110 lbs, and I was swimming in an xs. I love that it's spacious enough for layers, but the extra fabric around my waist/back wasn't flattering, even for a winter jacket. Unfortunately, because of the impracticality of the pockets, I'm considering returning this item. It may work great for others, but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is so warm I've ordered a renewed one for a barn coat. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the warmth of this coat! When North Face says warm they really mean it. The length is perfect for keeping wind out and legs and rear-end out of the elements. Love the zipper since this parka is longer the two way zipper makes it easy to get into and out of the car. The sleeves are a little long but the inner ribbed cuff is nice for keeping cold out and can be pushed back into the sleeve so it doesn't fall so low. At first I thought I didn't care for the hood--I was wrong. The hood is super soft and much warmer than I expected. I am kinda a pocket junkie so I am a bit disappointed with these pockets. The two largest pockets are top entry only the two upper pocket are easier to access except they are too high for my comfort.
