DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good! I like that the jacket is lightweight and folds up nicely for travel. I bought this jacket because I will be traveling to Europe in Nov and I needed something would fit in a carry on that was still warm as I will be walking around outside all day while in Europe. Today was the first day I wore it and it seems a little snug. I usually wear an XL but got the XXL to be safe. The slim fit is just a little too slim for my taste. I wish there was a women's "relaxed" fit instead of everything being slim fit. I haven't had much of a chance to test it out (though I was warm this morning on my way to work!) and I am hoping it is warm for how lightweight it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thermoball sizing I was advised to buy a size large by the "Find your size" online thingy here. That's silly. I'm glad I got a medium because I'm almost never a large and large would have been huge on me. This jacket fits true to size. I am 5'10" slender-build 160lb with a 36" chest and long arms. The sleeves are nice and long and the cuffs sit where they should just below my wrist. My chest has plenty of room to take huge breaths, twist, lift my arms, etc. This jacket fits even better than the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer medium, which restricts my movement a little more (but is quite a bit lighter). Anyway I'd recommend not sizing up if you are in doubt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE!!!!!!! amazing jacket !!!! I have been contemplating this jacket for a couple of years now and I finally ordered the correct size- small fits my 120 5.6 32dd frame. I have many north face items but usually my go to jackets are Lululemon. I am so glad this year Lululemon made poor fitting jackets which made me try this one again. Now I want them in many colors- super light but still very warm- I tend to get cold but this jacket has kept me warm on 30 degree weather. I have to say this is my pick up and go jacket everywhere. I purchased the Laurel wreath color and it's beautiful. Also great for packing since it takes very little room. Super happy with my purchase!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Shipping First, I have to rave about the shipping. I ordered the jacket on a Friday morning at 630am, and chose the free 3 day shipping as part of a promotion. I received it the NEXT day, Saturday at 4pm. AMAZING! This was on a holiday weekend as well. Just fabulous service. Jacket is great. I got it in blue as I already have a plethora of black jackets. I am 5"2 and 115 pounds. I got a small, but could have gotten an extra small. I prefer the small so that I can wear a sweater or scarf underneath without feeling claustrophobic, but easily could use an extra small. Great jacket, well made, worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I bought this style jacket for my entire real estate team! I just bought 13 jackets for my real estate team and this is the second set of them. 2 years ago I bought the same jacket style but without the hoods and had our team logos put on them and the team loved them so much we pretty much all wore them out so this Christmas we bought our second set for the team and they really like the new ones with hoods because we live in Alaska so as you can imagine they come in very handy. I personally love this jacket because I travel a lot for business and I can roll it up into a tiny ball and put it in my carry-on so that I have a jacket no matter where I go! Best and most versatile jacket I have owned. :-)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Your love won't last I bought this coat in early December and loved how warm, light-weight and comfortable it was! I received tons of compliments on it and told everyone how awesome it was. Plus, it was perfect for rainy Seattle winters! I was IN LOVE! Unfortunately, before long, one of the rivets in the pocket came loose. Then the threads in the sleeves started to come loose. And finally the material on the hem of the sleeve started to pill, and actually ripped at the seam. I had to do a bit of a gut check and realize that this was a $220 coat that I have had for less than three months and that it was falling apart. I returned it to REI today, and now I see that it's not being manufactured anymore. Hopefully Northface is working on building a more durable version and it will be back next season. Save your money until then!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unflattering if you have curves I bought this jacket in matte black hoping I could hike and jog outside in winter with it, but I am not sure if it is warm enough when it is windy as well as freezing in the Northeast. A few times, I had to go back inside and switch to a warmer jacket. And sadly, it is unflattering if you are short and curvy. It seems to be designed for tall, flat-chested people. I bought both the small and the medium based on the size-finding tool which predicted 25% fit on Small and 75% fit on Medium. The Small fits perfectly everywhere except around the chest. It zips up and everything but looks tight in the chest. The medium is too big everywhere and looks dumpy and dorky. It just doesn't look like I spent anything like how much this jacket costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Jacket This jacket is great. It's warn enough to wear when you're skiing in the spring, but not so cumbersome that you can't wear it when it's just a little cool. You can shove it in a suitcase and it'll look the same when you unpack it. And soft!! A lot of times when I don't want to wear anything, and it's a little cool, I'll just put this jacket on when I go out on a hotel balcony or even as a shirt when I go for breakfast. I just have to remember that that's all I have on if the dining room is a little warm. The one time I forgot, the guys didn't seem to mind but a couple of the wives did. Plus it gave us something to laugh about in the years to come.
