Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.
The North Face DryVent
Dryvent™ fabrics are engineered to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The outer face of the textile is treated with a durable water repellant finish that helps form droplets and repel water from the surface. Each multi layered textile is engineered to allow water vapor to pass through from the inside to the outside.

Amazing JacketI am 5 ft 110 lbs and I got this jacket in XS fig heather, it fits perfectly and I can put an extra layer underneath! I am from FL and use this jacket when it pours, it does a wonderful job at keeping me warm. I also just came back from Iceland and this jacket was a must. It is lightweight and packable which is a huge plus because my boyfriend and I only took a backpack. During 20 degree rainy days, this was a great outer layer and kept me dry on hikes and around waterfalls. It's also wind proof, so it helped me from the harsh cold wind. I recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay dry or who is looking for an outer layer!

NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL, AVOID IF U WANT A WATERPROOF JACKETI bought this jacket on box day last December for my mother. she only wears occasionally, however, when she went outside last week in a small rain wearing this jacket, the whole area surrounding her shoulders and chest are all WET!!! She tested it once again another day in small rain, the same thing happen.. This is UNBELIEVEABLE, we brought this jacket solely for the purpose of waterproof, as advertised per the the item description on the website but this is NOT WATERPROOF AT ALL, not even in small rain, severally doubting North Face's quality control, and utterly disappointed in the product... North face could not keep up with its reputation and quality promises

This Jacket + TNF Warranty = Never Buy Another Again![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased my Venture Rain Jacket in 2014, and have since taken this jacket around the world. 11 countries (in Monsoon season) later, and it was still holding up. Last year (2019) I found that it started de-laminating on the inside, so I sent it in to TNF per their warranty. They sent me a BRAND NEW ONE! I couldn't be happier! I'll never be buying a new rain jacket again since TNF stands so firmly behind their products. If anything goes wrong with it, they'll either fix it or replace it. I love that!

Classic Rain Jacket - Would Definitely Buy Again![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was in dire need of a new lightweight rain jacket for walking the dog, spring/summer/fall rain, and something that would pack down small to travel/camp/backpack with. This totally fits the bill! I had a couple of these jackets in high school and it is still excellent. The pit zips help with ventilation if you get a little warm on a brisk walk, the hood cinches to your head and is big enough to stay on, and keep rain off your face and out of your eyes, repels rain like a champ, and is generally just a solid classic rain jacket.

Disappointed.I purchased this jacket on the recommendation of my daughter, who was using it at college. I needed a lightweight waterproof jacket for occasional wear when traveling. The price was a bit steep for infrequent wear, but I loved all of the pockets and other features North Face included. It has been hanging in my closet for a couple of months and I pulled it out to wear to work today. Upon my arrival I discovered that the fabric was crumbling right along the edge of the seam sealing between the neck and hood of the jacket. NOT the quality and durability I expected from North Face and at this price point.

stylish and lightweight[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For sizing reference: I am a petite women (Height 5'2, Bust 32, Weight 110, Waist 25). I did know if to choose size XS or S and I went with small after asking my friends for advice on the fit. This jacket fits me comfortably and allows for movement and flexibility because it is not too tight as I think an XS would fit me. It is not tight at arms or underarms and the length is a bit past my waist. The jacket is pretty thin and lightweight so I would recommend wearing warm clothing under to keep yourself warm.

New Taupe in Extra Small[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am 5'1, 110 lbs. and ordered my usual size in extra small and it fits comfortably. The 'New Taupe' is a dark olive green which is a unique neutral color. I bought this packable jacket to keep in my tote or backpack for when I'm caught in an unexpected downpour of rain. It's not insulated and very lightweight. Keeps me dry. Best for rainy days in warm weather or Spring/Summer. I wash it on the cold cycle and hang it up to air dry. The North Face 'Resolve 2' Jacket is the insulated cold weather version of this packable jacket and is great too. I love mine and it was worth the excitement of waiting to get it!

Not Practical for MovementI'm a student at the UW in Seattle. It rains here, and when I'm making my 15 minute walk to class I expect to be dry. This jacket keeps my body dry. However, the new adjusters to tighten the hood do NOT work at all. There is no "stopper" on them so there is nothing preventing them from immediately sliding out and loosening. The hood, if it stays on my head at all, doesn't stay on my head to the point where it shields my face and some of my hair and I wind up having to sit through class wet. I don't know why the hood adjusters were redesigned; they're utterly impractical and it's a shame since I enjoy every other part of the jacket.
Hi Latrisa, great question! Unfortunately, the yellow color has been discontinued so we will not be getting any more xlarge. Sorry about that, but I hope this helps!

Thank you for your question.
HOW to MEASURE CHEST / BUST: Measure the total circumference of your chest at its fullest point. Ensure that the tape is horizontal when measuring.
WAIST: Place your hands on your hips and bend to the side. The indent on your side as you bend is your natural waist. Measure the total circumference at this point.
HIPS: Stand with your feet 6" apart. Measure the total circumference at the fullest point of your hip.
SLEEVE LENGTH: With your elbow slightly bent, starting at your middle neck bone, measure to the point of your shoulder and down to your wrist bone. Or take a shirt that fits well and take the same measurement.
FIT TYPES SLIM FIT: Has a close-to-body fit with fair range-of-motion. Jackets are shaped at the waist with moderate body contouring. Can be worn over base layers or light mid-layers.
STANDARD FIT: Fits true-to-size for easy, comfortable movement. Can either have slight body shaping or a straight fit without the shaping. Can be worn over mid-layers.
RELAXED FIT: Has a loose-to-oversize fit, with no shaping, and hangs away from the body. The shoulder may drop below the natural shoulder. Can be worn over heavy mid-layers.
