The The North Face Youth Stormy Rain Triclimate is a rain jacket and fleece for the wishy-washy weather of the spring season. The 100% nylon plain weave with DryVent 2L shell prevents the rains from soaking him through, walking to school, out on the playground, field trips and the campground. Paired with it is a soft, inner fleece for colder temperatures. Your kiddo can wear them together or separate, depending on their comfort level and the weather.

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.
The North Face DryVent
Dryvent™ fabrics are engineered to be fully waterproof, windproof and breathable. The outer face of the textile is treated with a durable water repellant finish that helps form droplets and repel water from the surface. Each multi layered textile is engineered to allow water vapor to pass through from the inside to the outside.

A few dollars more...[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The North Face has a great reputation of combining tech, design, and materials to create functional outerwear. I wish it extended to their youth lines. It would be worth it to add a zipper to the shell to make
the fleece More functional as a true triclimate “system” like the adult versions. It is 2 separate jackets when used together. For a 7-8 year old this is frustrating to wear together taking on and off each separately. Honestly disappointed with this jacket system. Nice little fleece. Shell is kinda “plasticky” but works well as a storm shell have not tested durability. If they zipped together it would be worth the extra money in my opinion.

Two jackets are not attached to each other[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice jacket but every time my son takes it off the two jackets separate and usually inside out. Not practical for kids. I would have not bought this had I known.

Nice shell.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son is 9, & runs super hot. I bought this as a waterproof shell that he can layer for him to wear snowboarding. I bought the 10/12 - M, & it is a little big on him. I agree that it would be nice if the fleece attached by zipper or at least a hook at the neck. Overall, I am happy with it.
