Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased two of this I purchased two of this Alpinist Tech Jacket, the black in Large, and the blue in Medium, because I was unsure how the jacket would fit. I am 6'2, 195 with broad shoulders which tends to shorten the sleeves a bit so I often have trouble coordinating sleeve length without making the body of the garment look like a billowy mess. The large is great to wear over a T and another long-sleeved shirt. Even with just a T under, the jacket is not at all baggy. It's not fitted mind you, but it's definitely not baggy. The medium is perfect to wear over just a T and the sleeve length is still perfect. This jacket fits great and allows for movement without feeling bound. I was unsure which would fit better and was prepared to only keep one, but I am definitely keeping both! These two jackets are two of the best investments I've made in a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I got this jacket as a I got this jacket as a replacement for my 20 year old Alpinist Tech Sweater. This is a great lightweight fleece meant for layering or cool days. It is not windproof, but it is not meant to be. The Driclime Windshirt under this is an incredible combination. If it's wet or colder, wear it under a shell. The Sharp Point or Spire Jackets work really well with this fleece. No jacket is perfect for everything. If you have the windshirt, a fleece and a hard shell, you can do well in almost any kind of weather or activity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but pricey I like the look and texture of this item. It's a decent weight for a layer or on it's own spring/ early fall. Haven't really stress tested it too much but. I knocked off stars mainly because (like all hike gear) it's absurdly overpriced imo. I bought it on a good sale and still was tough to swallow. I don't know why these companies can't price things more realistically. I'd purchase more of this kind of gear if I could afford it! Fit was good, true to size. I'm a very slim 6', 160#, 30" pant waist and the MD fit perfectly. I really like the thumb holes on the sleeves which was a pleasant surprise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels great, looks great. The Marmot Alpinist jacket is a very attractive fleece and has a great build quality. The warmth is very good for its weight; this is really added to by the elastic bound cuffs and draw cord hem. It's also not too warm to wear indoors for an extended period, the jacket achieves a good balance. The side pockets might be one of my favorite features though. They are deeper than one would think and you belongings feel very secure in them; with other coats i'm constantly reaching to check my phone and keys.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marmot Men's Alpinist Tech Jacket The Alpinist Jacket by Marmot is a great go anywhere, do anything jacket. I bought the jacket last summer and haven't had any problems. It has kept me warm in all types of weather east and west, ranging from rain storms to blizzard type conditions. I love the pocket in between the the zipper and the outside layer. I have found that for the price of marmot versus the price of North Face, Marmot serves a higher line of quality. Not only is it better quality, but it looks good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a mid layer - by Mike Leake The Marmot Alpinist Tech Jacket offers incredible warmth as a mid layer, as wells as practical compatibility for storing in your pack when not in use.  Not to mention quality breathability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fleece It's just a really comfortable fleece, and it's Marmot so you know it's quality. I got it on a price match so I got a pretty good deal on it. That said, it's worth buying at full price. Good to wear on early spring or late fall hikes, but also good to wear as a normal jacket around the city. ,,Sizing note: I'm 6ft and 180lbs and the medium fits great. It is a big snug, but that's exactly the fit I was looking for.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh.. Marmot sizing inconsistent. I've always had to up the size due to my shoulders/back been wider. I did the same with this but was surprised when I got it to find that the medium size is much more like a large. The sleeves are about 2 inches too long, and though it is a regular fit I feel I'm drowning in it. Outside of the sizing issue that I'm having it is the typical good quality marmot product.
