Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lightweight rain jacket I live in Seattle and have to walk 6 blocks to work. This jacket has not failed me yet, very light, enough room for layering and I stay dry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for light use with limitations Bought at the San Francisco store in 2015 (to replace my amazing 15 year old Precip that lost waterproofing in the hood). My Mica is still in new condition, but has design limitations vs Precip: 1-Not waterproof enough for heavy tropical rain, the inside doesn't drip but gets damp, I live in Vietnam and Bangkok. 2-No "PitZips" for ventilation. 3-The zipper is very small and stiff. I just know I will tear/break it someday. It takes two hands and patience to zip it up, funny, compared to Precip zipper that I can do one-handed, which is good because I am always carrying stuff. Mica is overall lighter and more comfortable to wear but I need the durability of Precip where I live.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from (Near) Perfection This is closest any piece of gear has come to perfection. The vertical Velcro strip on the back of the hood combined with the standard front edge bungee is the right way to design a hood--I can't understand why the front bungee that loops around the back of your head dominates the market. The pockets are perfectly located. The fabric is super light but reasonably durable. The fit is properly slim, with just enough room for a decently warm layer underneath if need be, and the cut is properly short to be able to sit down comfortably without unzipping. I use it as my everyday jacket (and all winter long in NYC), because I can ball it up and put it in my back pocket while I'm at a bar and therefore be less likely to lose it. I still manage to lose it on occasion, so I always keep a couple spares, and have probably owned a dozen at this point. It's been around for years and not a thing has changed, and to me represents the vice-grip of rain jackets: a perfect design that can't be improved upon, and God bless us if they're still making it exactly as it is decades from now. My three complaints: -I wish they sold it year round, some of us out hear are crazy and wear it in the winter. -I wish they still made it in solid grey. -I wish the price would come down as it has aged. Three possible improvements in case Marmot reads this and is inspired by my love for this jacket: -Extend the cuff Velcro farther to enable secure stick when synched tight (the tab often extends past the end of the soft half of the Velcro, leading to less area attached). -Replace Velcro adjustment on back of hood with bungee (debatable, more secure, adds weight/cost/less packable) -A small zippered breast pocket (maybe inside) to free up the other two pockets to put your hands in without worry (debatable, adds weight/cost/less packable).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket for appropriate applications! My first mica jacket has died after approximately 4.5-5 yrs of service. About a year ago the jacket started to leak and I supplemented with duct tape. Today it finally ripped while jogging in a spring rain. That said, I enjoyed the jacket. Not meant for the 2 hr downpours, but great for lightweight rains while backpacking, riding, hiking, warm weather skiing, etc. I dig the color combinations and will likely purchase another. Wish it would have held up longer, but mine was heavily used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of use out of this. I got this jacket and used it for over 2 and a half years. I put well over 300 field days on this before I even thought about replacing it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from light weight Only used once so far; quite pleased with the weight of the jacket; did not have enough rain to really test the waterproof capabilities.
