Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best outdoor shoe I've ever had. I've had these shoes for FOUR years now and if it weren't for a little bit of campfire ash than landed on the vamp and melted a lentil-sized hole in the outer mesh, they would still look like new -> I kid you not. They've endured AT LEAST 1000 miles off-road, 7 (hardcore) camping trips, tidbits of (actual) rock climbing, TONS of tree climbing (yeah I'm a child at heart oh well), not to mention skydiving if it means anything to you :P (seriously), and to sum it up I use them in and out of school. 95% of the time I'm wearing shoes, it has to be these. Yeah. Hell of a shoe. Amazing comfort, breathability, and flexibility, can't so enough about them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Look, Feels Great on the Feet! Bought this shoe at a local store, before I knew about Moosejaw, I had to return it because it was kinda tight on my feet, I got the same size but in a Wide and everything is great since then. I just got back from a multi-day hike and feet feel great. I do not feel like my feet got hot at all, they were “ventilated.” The Vibram works great, it’s the first shoe I have had with this on it and I will be sure to look for that again on my next shoe purchase, super comfortable! I would recommend these shoes, but I really wish that they were waterproof at this price, but I can’t have it all I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Hiking Shoe Very comfortable shoe. This is probably one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever own/worn. Actually love to wear it just going around town as well. If thinking about going to a cooler/colder area especially if windy, definitely not a shoe you would want to get because of the ventilation... Go for the Gore-Tex one. Otherwise, nothing bad to say about the shoe except the shoe strings are really long and start to slip with activity. I wasn't much of a double knotter, but I am now and that works out well for these shoes. Definitely recommend!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe! As the director of an Adventure Challenge program, I am walking on wooded trails and high rope cables 3-4 days a week, spring-fall. My first pair of Ventilators lasted 5 years. I still wear them, but the tread is worn down pretty thin. When I went to backpack Isle Royale National Park a few years ago, I decided last minute to ditch the heavy hiking boots and wear my Vents instead. Since that time, they're all I wear on the trails, unless I'm expecting snow or deep "muck" during the rainy season. GREAT SHOE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They are fine trail shoes but they still have hiker written all over them. Walk. Don't Run. ,,,,This is how I would sum these shoes up. If you are strictly a walker then these are terrific shoes for the money. If you want to run avoid them. If you think you might need to run away from something, avoid them.,,,,If you can't stand hiking boots but want more sole support than a regular trail runner shoe when backpacking this might be the perfect choice. They dry fast, ventilate like crazy, have solid soles, and sensible lacing. Construction seems durable but time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, breathable, and tons of support! Just got these and cant say enough about them. They are extremely lightweight for a shoe that gives as much support as these do. I am really flat footed and these Merrell's do a fantastic job at keeping my heels supported and ankles squared away. The soles are constructed of some seriously puncture proof material and if you've ever hiked anywhere in the southwest you'll appreciate it. The toe cap is well reinforced and all the sew work looks and feels top notch. The shoe breaths really really well, even when wearing wool backpacking socks. I'd recommend these in a second.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3000 miles and still kick'in The Moab will start to break down along the sides where the sole and shoe are put together; and I found out after about 1000 miles I had to replace the insoles. My number one complaint with this shoe is that the tongue needs to be fixed in the upright position, for it has a tendency to slip to one side and fix it's self in annoying spot. One last thing; if you get this shoe in leather “the black”, you will need to keep them clean and polished or the shoe will get tight on you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, Breathable, Beautiful, & Robust So I'll be honest I've only wore them on one hike and it was a 5.3 mile day hike. I have an excuse I just got them. Plus here in the Lou it's like 98 degrees with 80% humidity! So as much as I would never tell my new girlfriend my feet sweat pretty bad(kinda an understatement)! These shoes have so much ventilation even my feet are Joe Cool. This is my second pair of Merrell's, they got the hiking shoes down pat. My last pair lasted 5 years until I got a little to close to the fire on a 3 day winter hike.
