Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic technical soft shell for active pursuits In full disclosure, I haven't decided yet whether I am keeping this item, but that is not because this jacket is lacking. Soft shells vary on the spectrum of breathability, water-resistance, and wind resistance. There is no "right" answer to that combo, it is user preference for their intended use cases. This hits a nice sweet spot. the material on the sides vents fairly well, while the main body is windproof and warm. It appears to be more water-proof than they even market it to be. The fit is great, long enough to be protective and slim enough to look good, but still fit other layers under if necessary.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, coat! Just don't expect too much Nice coat- very comfortable. Fits as described. Very thin along the sides of trunk and inside of arms for venting purposes. Good feature for layering, but it won't block the wind. Would have liked to see the thin "venting" area start just under the armpit instead of the entire trunk.
