Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hate this jacket I hate this jacket. I really do. I wish I had never bought it. ...because now I don't wear any of my other jackets! Seriously, this jacket is amazing. It is so incredibly lightweight that I thought mine was missing some heavy liner or something. But nope, it's just THAT lightweight, yet keeps me very warm. Really can't ask for any better than that! I've assembled quite the collection of Patagonia products now but this one might just be my favorite. It's incredible what they did with this jacket and I've been recommending it to all my friends and family. If you enjoy wearing the jackets you own now, don't buy this one because it's all you'll ever wear from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket sets a new standard I brought this jacket to Japan for backpacking after i received it. It was Spring over and temperature is about 12-18C during the day and close or below 10C at night. I wore this jacket and a thin t-shirt and felt warm walking around. Suggest wearing thicker baselayer if it is below 8C. When doing a short (but little strenuous) hike up, i didn't feel overheat; the jacket breathe really well. This is very noticeable when I switched to a down jacket which i brought along. I got overheat in the down jacket. And as mentioned by others, the jacket is not wind resistance thus best use in activity where you are constantly moving. I am 180cm, 68 kg. Tried M and S and went for S as it leaves me more room for a hardshell and. I can still wear a R1 fleece underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What ambrosia meant to foodies of yesteryear this hoody-jacket-poofy thingy is doing for gear nerds If I could wrap myself in live, purring, fluffy cats while hiking I would but as of 5 minutes ago that form of outerwear has not been put on the market so there is this! I wore it as a mid-layer over a Marino long sleeve and under my Arc'Teryx hard shell during my Mt Fuji climb this winter. At lower elevations it worked great as a stand alone garment. At elevation it was warm but not overly so and as a bonus it fit over my ProTec helmet like they were designed for each other.,,Light, packable, warm, and stretchy or in a word, perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket... Ever? Ive owned just about every brand of jacket out there from Arcteryx to Columbia and this one is by far my favorite. First day using it i put it on in the morning when it was low 40s and literally kept it on all day even when the high was in the mid 60s. Never got too hot and was certainly never cold. Its lightweight, fits great and love that its slim fit. Give this thing a try if you're on the fence. It's winning tons of awards and for good reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best jacket ever purchased! Patagonia did not let me down on this jacket. After all the hype I was worried that I would have too high expectations but let me tell you that this is the best jacket I have ever owned! I am 5'7" and slim and the small fits very well with room for a base layer. The stretch fabric works well and does not feel constricting when active, reaching or even moving fast. It breaths well and truly can be used from freezing temperatures with a base layer up to about 60 degrees. On a recent expedition I did not take it off for two days! We will see about durability but so far could not be happier. The hood lays nicely when not in use and fits well with nice protection from the wind and blowing snow. Will need a shell with significant precipitation however the synthetic insulation does maintain its properties when wet. I always come back to patagonia given their iron-clad warranty. You will not be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile! I've owned this jacket for over a year now, and take it with me everywhere. I climb, ski, and lounge in it! Wear it as a mid layer or outer layer, depending on weather. I was initially concerned that the outer fabric wouldn't hold up to abrasion when climbing or bushwhacking, but it surprised me. I've put it through the wash many times, and the high-traffic areas - mainly the cuffs, forearms, and elbows - are starting to pill. It'll be a sad day when I retire this jacket, but I already look forward to its replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Killer piece of gear I've been living in mine since it arrived. Functions as advertised, very techy kinda makes me feel like a sexy astronaut. I'm 6'2" 170 and a large fits me great not too tight not too baggy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Horseshoes & Hand Grenades This is "almost" a great jacket. It does everything it's supposed to do but the size was a bit off. All my other Patagonia clothing is size large and fit perfectly but this one felt like it ran on the smaller side.
