Polartec Power Grid

Polartec Power Grid
Polartec Power Grid is a fleece fabric with a grid pattern. The grid design allows the fabric to wick moisture away from the skin, dry quickly, and increase breathability. It also allows the apparel piece to be lightweight and compress down for packing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Piece of Clothing I remember the days prior to owning this piece of gear. The days seemed shorter, colder, sadder....and the sun seemed to be hidden for years. Then my R1 arrived. I think it was the first piece of brand new Patagonia gear I purchased. It is a perfect mid-weight layer. It does nothing to block wind. Alone, it will fight a chill. Mix it with a base layer and a shell and it is insulation that makes others jealous. My preferred set up is a light base layer, R1, and Outdoor Research Helium II rain coat. Super thin and good down to wet freezing temps. Packs pretty small for a base layer, so it goes everywhere I go. I've owned one of these since 2008, and have to fight the urge to buy a new one every time I see on on the racks. After a few washes, it is a soft and silky embrace for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile, lightweight, comfortable fleece I use this as my primary layering piece. It works great on an airplane to keep you a little warm on those long flights, or in any slightly chilly scenario. Very nice to be able to dump heat quickly with the extended chest zipper. Probably one of my most worn pieces. because of the temperature ranges it can be worn in. Doesn't provide a huge amount of warmth. On it's own, I wouldn't wear it below 50 degrees. Doesn't do a lot to cut out the wind either, but that's what other pieces are for. I'm 6' 180lbs and went with a large. It is a little big in the stomach and long in the arms, but leaves room for layering. I probably should have gotten a medium for the more trim, technical fit, but decided I don't necessarily want a slim fit fleece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking pullover. I bought this for our grandson for Christmas. He is very happy to have it and the pullover has great quality. Great fit and a good color for him. Would purchase it again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Firstly, I'm 5'9" with a 43 inch chest measurement and 17 inch arms and the Large size in this product is a snug fit. I wouldn't go any larger and the Large size still allows me to move quite freely. I have sensitive skin and my skin seems to tolerate the material quite well so I am quite pleased with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted fleece layer Just bought another r1 pullover to replace the one I've used extensively for almost 10 years. The old one is still fine but I wanted the tan color while it was available. Fits as expected. A little more athletic than a better sweater and much trimmer than a synchilla snap t. Wears well out or bumming around but really shines as a fleece layer over merino baselayer when I hunt or backpack. Also use the r1 pants. I highly recommend. Rated 4 out of 5 by from long sleeves for long arms I haven't worn this yet which is why I can't give 5 stars yet. I am 6 ft 180 with a 44 chest and very long arms. The large fits perfectly over a mid weight base layer and comes down nicely to my wrists. It is a snug fit and would not fit well over another mid layer. The weight should be perfect for resort skiing in the Tahoe area over a mid or heavy weight base layer and with a puffy for colder climates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia at its best I now own three Patagonia R1 pullovers and I think it might be Patagonia's best bit of gear. So much versatility, a great fit and and plenty of colour choices. I use my R1's skiing, hiking, trail running, biking and just about everything else in between. True to size in its slim fit way. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I was looking for but a nice garment. I was looking for a lightweight pullover that could be worn like a sweater over work and casual button downs. Although this is a high quality garment (which is why I will not give it a negative review), it was too snug and super warm for my purposes. I went with the Patagonia Houdini pullover instead and it's perfect for my needs.
