Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS COAT I think the name "sweater" is a bit misleading, this is a jacket/coat... I own two of these wonderful coats because they are the PERFECT weight and they fit great. Unlike other down coats, this coat isn't puffy, but still provides the same (if not better) protection from cold. I live in St. Louis, MO and last week it did not get above 20 degrees. I wore this coat every day and stayed toasty warm. This coat isn't just for the bitter cold, I've worn it in up to 50 degrees while still being at a comfy temperature. HIGHLY recommend this coat. (only downfall is that it cannnnnnnot be wet so snow days aren't the best for it)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect weight! smart company Ive been wearing the down sweaters for about 11 years and love their flexibility. I live coastal in southern Cali so a full loft down isn't necessary but this jacket has been perfect for summer nights on the water, spring and fall days and winter. I love the new cut it doesn't seem as flared out for the women as it used to be which is when i would buy the mens straighter cut version. This one is just perfect--cut, weight, size L (because of a larger bust). The company is also awesome with repairs like small tears etc. theres a small dwr coating too so it can handle a little dampness. I wear this in the winter under a shell when i need full weather protection.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not up to previous versions Guess I'm spoiled, but I keep trying to find a new Patagonia down sweater as beautiful as a special edition I picked up for a song several years ago. This model did not fit the bill. The fit is somewhat boxy, rather than contoured, the down doesn't loft as high as mine, the shell is a dull matte weave, and the waist drawstring control poufs out the bottom of the jacket. The performance I'm sure would be similar to mine, but the appearance isn't nearly as flattering as my other one. (I wear mine around town all the time because it's so attractive.) Even at the great Moosejaw price, I returned this one. I ordered the amber. Beautiful color! I am 5'7", athletic 140# and the M would allow a sweater underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this coat because SOFT This coat is not only stylish, it is also AMAZINGLY comfortable. Moosejaw and it's wonderful sales encouraged me to buy this coat along with the wonderful company that is Patagonia. Two quality companies working together to bring you pure happiness. It's true to size, thin yet incredibly warm, and the color is great. Patagonia uses traceable down so you don't have to worry about wearing material from tortured animals. Plus they are a quality company all around. Great coat, great deal by moosejaw, two great companies seeking to fully satisfy their customers and then some..what more could you want?!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from lightweight and warm, but a runs a little small Received the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater one week ago. It is very lightweight and warm, but provides little protection from the wind so I would suggest a wind breaker or rain jacket when using is colder climates. Ordered the cobalt blue and it is beautiful, just as pictured online. Ordered a medium and it is a little tight in the shoulders and waist, especially with a layer on underneath. I am 6' 160 lbs. Always wear a medium in Patagonia. I tried a large on in a store and was way too big. Luckily it is warm enough that I most likely won't need to wear a think layer underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, super cute, awesome quality Bought this for my upcoming move to the east coast. The jacket is true to size. I'm 5'8" 140# and the small fits great. A shirt and sweater fits nicely underneath but if you wanted heavier stuff underneath maybe buy a size up. Love the cobalt blue looks great in pict and I was even happier when it arrived. It's warm and cozy and just the right amount of puffiness without making me look line the michellin man.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I do not know what this means. My sweater was delivered in just a few days and it is perfect. I ordered this particular one as I am on a tight budget and it was all I could afford. I was nervous about the color, but it is fabulous. I must admit I went to a Patagonia store to try them on to get the right size. Your sale prices are awesome. The "sweater" is very light weight but extremely warm and roomy enough for a layer underneath. I am 5'2", 102lb, extremely well endowed and the small was just right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty and well made Definitely not a loose fit -- but that's nice, because it's flattering. Definitely not for very, very cold weather, but I was aware of that before buying. It's very light weight; great under a parka. I got the multi-colored sweater, because I was so tired of all the black, brown, and navy clothing I see. I can't rate the durability, because I've only had it for a month, & haven't had to clean it yet. However, I know Patagonia's reputation for free repairs, and that's why I bought this brand. How do I replenish the water repellent nature to this jacket? I have washed it following label instructions but now the coat no longer repels water. It actually soaks it up a bit!

Asked by: Ktravel
Hey KTravel, thanks for asking! I suggest using Nikwax Down Wash to wash the jacket, followed by Nikwax Down Proof to restore the DWR (durable water resistance) on the outer fabric as well as the fill. I hope this helps!
